1 Month Old

I can’t believe Harper is already a month old!  It has been an eventful four weeks to say the least.  We are learning a lot of tricks of the trade when it comes to raising a newborn that is for sure.  We soon realized when Harper hit about 2 weeks old that there is indeed a “witching hour” for babies.  Harper is everything but sleepy usually from 7-11 pm and it takes a lot of trial and error on our part to get her to bed for the night.  In this time period we usually go through at least 5 diapers and multiple feeds in attempt to calm her to get her sleepy.  She really likes to party around 9 pm and is super cute and playful, but I don’t want her to get used to having such a late bedtime.  So we are working on that!  I’m not surprised because when she was in my belly she also hosted nightly parties around the same time that included a lot of kicking, punching, and log rolls.  Despite that party time, Harper has been a pretty good sleeper since day one with only two sleepless nights on record.  In fact she will sleep on average 4-5 hours at a time and has even slept through the night twice last week.  Lately her personality is starting to blossom.  Her biggest milestone (technically at 5 weeks) was that she has started smiling at us.  Not just the sleepy smiles that she has been doing from birth, but she will smile and make eye contact with us when we talk to her or when she is playing.

I decided I wanted to document her monthly growth with photos. So I hand made a tutu (thanks to Pinterest) that she can wear each month to show her growth. It still looks big on her but I know she will grow into it quickly. Below are the pictures at one month old.

First trip to Gulf World!

As many of you know, I have a special love and passion for marine life. I sadly had to give up my dream job at Gulf World Marine Park once I became pregnant to work closer to home and have a less demanding schedule. Although I still enjoy visiting there often. So of course I had to take Harper there and spark her interest in marine life at a young age! She did great despite pooping out of her diaper onto her cute pants and my jeans almost as soon as we got there. This was one of our longest outings together. She got to meet the dolphins that I love so dearly and even get kissed by Otto the sea lion, like many of you who may have visited me at Gulf World in the past. I finished the day by purchasing Harper some toys at the gift shop, just like any good mom does while at a tourist attraction!

Of course I had to dress her for the occasion in a cute little whale outfit

Sacked out with her new toys after a fun filled day.

The Journey of Harper

Here is a slideshow that I put together to help me remember how things all started with Harper and how it progressed along the way.  Will and I took a picture of my belly each week during my pregnancy.  I love being able to watch my belly grow...and grow, AND continue to grow!  The other pictures are of the first moments that we met Harper after she was born.  The music are some of our favorite songs and really capture how we felt during this time in our lives.  Will said the "baby girl" song will be what he and Harper will dance to at her wedding... I'm surprised he wants to even think about that day already! -Morgan
